What this site is

Higher Ground ("this site", "we") is a football quiz game. This policy explains what information is collected when you use it.

Information stored on your device

Your best run and your cookie consent choice are stored locally in your browser (using localStorage). This data never leaves your device, is not sent to us, and is not linked to you personally. Clearing your browser data will reset it.

Cookies, analytics and ads

Google Analytics and Google AdSense are present on every page load — this lets Google verify our site is set up correctly. By default, though, they run in a restricted mode: no ad or analytics cookies are set, and ads (once we run any) are not personalized to you. That only changes if you click "Accept" on the cookie banner, which tells Google it's okay to use cookies and show personalized ads. If you decline, that restricted, non-personalized mode is what you get for your whole visit.

If you accept, we use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand how many people visit and how they use the site — for example, which pages are viewed and roughly how long people spend playing. Google Analytics uses cookies and may share data with Google as described in Google's own privacy policy. We also use Google AdSense to show ads, which (if you accept) may use cookies to personalize which ads you see — see the same Google privacy policy link above for how they handle this.

Data we do not collect

We don't require accounts, logins, or any personal information to play. We don't sell any data to third parties.

Third-party data sources

The football statistics used in this game are sourced from the Fjelstul English Football Database, englishfootballleaguetables.co.uk, and the Football Club History Database. This is separate from any personal data handling described above.
